Every part of the country has their own diverse kind of trees.  Some are very common, some are rare.  The oak has several varieties in Indiana and is ubiquitous in the United States.  I love them.  Not just because they're the official tree of the capital of the US, Washington D.C., but for the unique leaves and pretty little acorns that feed so many kinds of wildlife.  I had been wanting to try leaf impressions in plaster for a while, and when I happened upon this branch that had come down during an overnight wind gust, I had to run out and get some clay for the impression.  Well, I had never really worked with trying to roll out clay before...takes a bit of work, but it was fun to get to the point where you press the foliage into the clay with a rolling pin and pour in the plaster.  It's like Christmas waiting for it to set up, pulling the clay off, inspecting what you got!  So, this is the result.  Yes, there's the acorns, too!  A little highlighting with some oil paints, bringing out the details a bit...Voila!  Ooooo....So much fun I did another...
